Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami praise India on becoming U19 Women’s T20 World Cup winner

Former India cricketers Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami applauded the young India team on being crowned U19 Women’s T20 World Cup champions as well. However, Team India beat England by seven wickets in Potchefstroom on Sunday, January 29 as well.

“CHAMPIONS! Congratulations #TeamIndia, this is a monumental achievement! This fantastic victory shows how dominating you have been throughout the tournament. The triumph is even more special considering this is the first-ever Women’s #U19T20WorldCup. Cherish every moment!” Mithali tweeted.

As far as the game is concerned, Team India bowlers set up the match, with Titas Sadhu, Archana Devi and Parshavi Chopra picking up two wickets each to bowl England out for 68 in 17.1 overs. In reply, Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha played stable innings before Tiwari took India home as well.

Meanwhile, India women’s senior players, who are also in South Africa for the upcoming T20 World Cup, and the upcoming T20 World Cup also congratulated the U19 team. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Shikha Pandey wished them along with others.

“You’ve been a motivation for us. You girls have bought laurels to the nation. We are extremely proud of each and everyone whose been a part of the world contest,” said Harmanpreet.

“Champions of the world. Proud. Absolutely proud of the bunch. Champions in the inaugural edition makes it even more special. This is just the beginning. Go team,” said Mandhana.

“The India U-19s have done it! You absolute legends. Congratulations on winning the inaugural U-19 World Cup tournament. You folks for sure have inspired a lot of girls back home (and us too),” said Pandey.
