According to reports, the Mittal family is keen to expand its footprint in global sports. Their recent investment in the Boston Celtics reflects a broader strategy to build a diversified sports portfolio, and the Rajasthan Royals are now seen as a valuable opportunity in the rapidly growing Indian sports market.

Multiple bidders have already shown strong interest in the franchise. At least four parties submitted binding bids before the March 17 deadline, highlighting the growing demand for IPL team ownership. Among them is a powerful consortium backed by the Aditya Birla Group and American investor David Blitzer, both of whom are looking to secure a controlling stake.

Meanwhile, developments around the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have also caught attention. Reports suggest that several high-profile bidders, including the Glazer family and Adar Poonawalla, have exited the race to acquire the franchise.
