Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has once again expressed his desire to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) if given the chance, but he has also confirmed that he will continue representing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) if an opportunity with the IPL doesn’t materialise. Currently playing for Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing PSL, Amir was asked about his preference between the two leagues in case of a scheduling conflict.

“Honestly, if I get the opportunity, I’ll play in the IPL. I’m saying this openly. But if I don’t get a chance, then I will play in the PSL,” Mohammad Amir stated during an interview with Geo News. He further clarified, “By next year, I will have the opportunity to play in the IPL, and if given the chance, why not?”

While Amir remains hopeful for an IPL opportunity next year, he stressed that he doesn’t foresee a clash between the two leagues. He pointed out that the ICC Champions Trophy was the priority this year and that his participation in the PSL would depend on his selection.

“If I get picked in PSL first, then I can’t pull off, as I will be banned from the tournament,” Mohammad Amir added.
So far, Amir has taken four wickets in three matches during the ongoing PSL, although his economy rate of 9.73 has been a bit concerning.

The attack, which injured several others, has further strained the already tense India-Pakistan relations. Protests and candlelight vigils were held in Delhi, expressing solidarity with the victims, making it uncertain whether a Pakistan-origin player like Amir will be allowed to feature in IPL 2026.
