An old video of the former Pakistani pacer, Mohammad Asif is going viral where he had predicted almost a couple of years ago that once the former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli witnesses a decline, he won’t be able to make a comeback after that, as the legendary Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar. What Mohammad Asif is explaining in that video is that Virat is an extremely bottom-handed batter and such players need to be at the peak of their fitness all the time to perform at their best.
Asif further explained that once Virat Kohli witnesses a decline in his fitness even a little bit and he wouldn’t be able to play his bottom-handed shots as effectively as he is playing now and he wouldn’t get a lift after that.
The video is from a couple of years ago when Mohammad Asif is comparing the batting of Kohli with the batting of Babar Azam and Sachin Tendulkar. According to Asif, both Babar and Sachin are top-handed batters. Many people say Kohli is better than Sachin and he can break the records of Sachin, but Asif predicted in that video that Kohli will not even manage to go close to the records that have been set by Sachin.
Mohammad Asif had opined that because of the fact that Sachin Tendulkar was a top-handed and not a bottom-handed batter like Kohli, he had the freedom and range to access all areas of the ground, both off the front foot and the back foot. He can not only play the cover drive and the on-drive, but he also play the pull and the cut because he was top-handed.
The same applies to Babar, he is also not heavily bottom-handed and thus, can access all areas of the ground. The question that was asked to Mohammad Asif was whom would he pick if he had to pick between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. His answer is now going viral on social media as Kohli scored back-to-back golden ducks in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after coming into the tournament with a slightly shaky form.
