Kaif was previously associated with the Gujarat Lions as fielding coach. However, Amre was already working with Daredevils as their assistant coach but his role has been reassigned for the upcoming season.

As per a report in The Times of India, Amre wanted the role and seems to be one of the steps taken by Daredevils’ new part-owners JSW as they look to overcome years of underachievement. Soon after JSW announced an acquisition in the franchise, Hemant Dua stepped down as the CEO.

The report further claimed that the owners are also thinking about the idea of renaming the franchise. In IPL 2018, Daredevils finished at the bottom of the points tally with just five wins from 14 matches. Gautam Gambhir, after a highly successful stint with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), returned to DD this season as captain but stepped down midway after a series of poor scores, handing over the duties to Shreyas Iyer.

Only thrice in the 11-year history of IPL have DD a managed an appearance in the playoffs and continue to be the only team among the active ones to have never made the finals.

As per TOI reports, BCCI’s anti-corruption unit (ACU) cautioned the Delhi franchise for inviting cheerleaders to a recent celebrity golf tournament dinner in Gurgaon. That incident happened before their home game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which had been played on last Friday (May 18).
