Recently, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif shared a heartwarming video on social media featuring a special net session with his 77-year-old father, Mohammad Tarif, at their Prayagraj home in Uttar Pradesh. While he never represented India during his playing days, Tarif had a pretty active cricketing career, playing 60 first-class matches besides two games in the List-A format.
In the video, it is a beautiful father-son moment as Mohammad Kaif is seen bowling to his dad and reliving memories of the past. He is seen giving throwdowns with a white season ball from halfway down the pitch. His father, Mohammad Tarif, is seen responding to them with a set of solid defences and graceful drives.

Their interaction is too nostalgic as most of the 48-second clip revolves around their conversation. Tarif removes his gloves, and Kaif takes the opportunity to ask a few questions to his father about his cricketing days.
“Papa, age kitni hui aapki?” (Father, what’s your age?) Kaif asks, as Tarif proudly replies, “79.”
Yehi hai raaz meri fitness ka. My father at 79 fit to bat and still showing great touch. It is all in the genes. In Allahabad, they still talk about Tarif bhai’s sixes. 🤞 pic.twitter.com/oaSJCuHWKQ

Mohammad Kaif goes on to ask how many years it had been since his father last held a bat. “Das-baara saal hogaye, balla pakde hue das-baara saal hogaye”, Tarif says, meaning “10-12 years, it’s been 10-12 years since I last held a bat.”
He then asks about his father’s last knocking session, and it gets him nostalgic; then, Tarif says that it was back in 1985. Kaif becomes emotional because his father shows the same passion for the game and seems fit, and he looks to that moment in retrospect with incredulity.

In the caption of his post, Kaif gives credits to the dedication of his father to fitness, relating this to his successes and accentuating how close they are to each other through cricket.
