Indian star pacer Mohammed Shami responded to the speculations doing rounds on social media about his romantic connection with tennis ace Sania Mirza, which has attracted eyeballs in both sports and entertainment circuits. It was a strong response from Shami against the backdrop of the entire context—Sania Mirza’s recent divorce from Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.
The rumours were largely based on doctored images and had no truth to them, linking Shami to Mirza. Though there has been no credible source or official confirmation, the news went viral all the same. An angry Shami took to social media and reacted.
Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Shami said, “Weird, and I feel it’s done purposely for some lame fun.” The pacer did not hold back a word in lambasting the people behind such unfounded stories against him as highly irresponsible and so dangerous.

“It is weird and done purposely for some lame fun. But what can be done? If I open my phone then I could see those memes. But I would only like to say I think that memes are made for fun, but if they are related to someone’s life, then you must think about it and then share such things. These people share from unverified pages and get away by saying anything and everything,” Mohammed Shami stated.

Shami has pointed out the bad impact of this sort of social media behaviour, asking people who had done it to repent and use their energy for self-improvement rather than indulging in something that is as futile as rumour-mongering.
“But I would like to say one thing – if you have the guts to say all these things from a verified page, then I will reply. Try achieving success, help people and upgrade yourself then I will believe that you are a good person,” Mohammed Shami added.

In addition, Shami made this opportunity count to update the fans on his recovery from an ankle injury that had kept him out of action since the culmination of the 2023 ICC World Cup. He revealed that he had recently started training and was putting up all efforts to be back in the Indian cricket team for upcoming international assignments.
