India pacer Mohammed Shami won many hearts recently by fulfilling a request from fellow cricketer Deepti Sharma at the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards on August 21, held in Mumbai. While entering into the event, Shami was swamped by paparazzi who tried to click his photos. In this hustle, Deepti Sharma went up to him with a personal request—she asked if he could pose for a photo with her brother. He agreed gracefully to do so, and the feel-good moment was captured on camera.

No time wasted, the video went viral on social media, with the fans heaping praise on Shami for his humility and sweetness in sparing time for Deepti’s brother. Mohammed Shami’s presence at the awards was also a significant one since he is on the threshold of making a comeback into professional cricket.

The 33-year-old pacer is finally getting ready for his comeback after going through a tough time away from the sport owing to his Achilles tendon surgery. The injury had kept him out of action for months and made him miss some big events, including the home series against England, IPL 2024, and the T20 World Cup. However, his recovery has gone well, and he is expected to make a comeback soon.

Though he is not part of the Duleep Trophy, Mohammed Shami is expected to turn up in at least one game in this Ranji Trophy season. The team management is likely to handle him with care by not including him in the upcoming series against Bangladesh to make him fit and fine for the marquee Australia series later in the year.
