The Indian team seems to be in a driver seat in the ongoing 2nd match of the 5-Test series against England at Lord’s. The way the Indian batsmen managed to put up an above-average total while facing the English seamers deserves a certificate of excellence. Lokesh Rahul and Rohit Sharma were the main reasons behind the phase of the game with a 126-run opening partnership. Rohit Sharma played a flamboyant knock of 83 runs with the help of 11 boundaries and a solitary six.
On the other hand, KL Rahul also played one of the best knocks of his career as he scored 129 including 12 boundaries and a six. Indian captain Virat Kohli missed out on scoring a fifty by 8 runs. A lot was expected of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Nonetheless, the duo failed to do much as Pujara got out after scoring just 9 while Rahane scored 1.
Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant again came for the rescue for the Indian team in the middle by scoring 40 and 37 runs respectively. Team India ended the first day at 276/3 and was bowled out for 364 in the first innings. James Anderson went on to pick another 5-wicket haul in his illustrious career.
Ollie Robinson and Mark Wood accounted for two dismissals apiece. Moeen Ali also for the wicket of the Mohammed Shami. The English batsmen started the innings with caution. They knew they were trailing by 364 runs. Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley added 23 runs for the first wicket before Mohammed Siraj provided the much-needed breakthrough.
Initially, Siraj got rid of Dominic Sibley with a tricky delivery as KL Rahul took a very good catch. In the very next ball, Siraj delivered a magical ball to make a mess of Haseeb Hameed’s stumps.

For the unversed, Hameed made a comeback to the England Test team nearly after 5 years. However, Siraj ensured to dismiss the right-handed batsman on the very first ball. Siraj took two wickets in 2 balls.
