Mohammed Siraj reflected on his stellar performance on day three of the third Test, crediting his success to emulating Jasprit Bumrah’s yorkers, which he missed during a break in Vizag. The pacer’s four-wicket haul, including two unplayable yorkers to dismiss Rehan Ahmed and James Anderson, showcased his bowling prowess.

Taking a break during the Vizag Test, Siraj spent quality time with his family and trained at home. However, he couldn’t shake off the thought of Bumrah’s yorkers, prompting him to replicate them in Rajkot.

“I was missing Jasprit (Bumrah) bhai’s yorkers from home, so I thought that I will do it here in Rajkot,” Mohammed revealed Siraj.

Explaining his decision to resort to yorkers, Siraj noted the lack of assistance from the pitch on day three. Despite the challenging conditions, his execution of yorkers proved fruitful. “There is not much assistance from the surface. The yorker was an option during that time and I got the result that I was looking for,” Mohammed Siraj elaborated.

Facing a formidable challenge after Ben Duckett’s century on day two and the absence of R Ashwin due to a family emergency, India regrouped brilliantly on day three. Siraj’s three wickets, along with contributions from Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, saw England collapse, losing 8 wickets for 112 runs.

Discussing the team’s strategy, Siraj emphasized the bowlers’ focus on maintaining their lengths and capitalizing on the English batters’ mistakes. Despite the absence of Ashwin, the four-man bowling unit embraced their responsibility and executed their plans effectively.

“With Ash bhai (R Ashwin) not being there we were only four bowlers in the ground. We had the responsibility to do well against their aggressive batting. We told ourselves that we will stick to our lengths and wait for their mistakes,” shared Mohammed Siraj.
