Mohammad Siraj has risen to fame with his outstanding bowling display in Test cricket since making his debut in Australia. Many experts and critics praised his skills and passion with which he bowled during the recent England tour as well.

However, Siraj’s heroics in Test cricket couldn’t earn him a place in the Indian squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE and Oman. He, though, isn’t bothered by it as he knows selection is not something that is in his hands.

“Well, selection is not in our hands. It was certainly a dream to play in the T20 World Cup. But, again, that is not the end of it all. I have many more goals — the biggest being to play a lead role in helping the team to win matches,” Siraj told Sportstar.

“I will take things as they come because I believe in destiny and be content in whatever opportunities I get even as the pursuit for excellence at the highest level continues,” he added.

Siraj made his Test debut in Melbourne against Australia in the Boxing Day Test. He has been a revelation since then as he bowled well in some of India’s most memorable Test victories from Gabba to Lord’s.

He is happy in contributing to the memorable victories for his country.

“The England tour was a great experience by any stretch of the imagination. I am glad that I could repose the faith of my captain Virat bhai, head coach Ravi Shastri, the support staff and the entire team,” said the 27-year-old.

Siraj has taken 30 Test wickets in nine matches that he has played so far.

India will start their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign against Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai.
