Mohammed Siraj’s seven-year journey with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has come to an end as the Hyderabad speedster was snapped up by Gujarat Titans for an impressive INR 12.25 crore at the IPL 2024 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Siraj, who began his IPL career in 2017 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, joined RCB in 2018 and became a cornerstone of their bowling attack. Despite having the Right to Match (RTM) option, RCB opted not to retain him, paving the way for Siraj to embark on a new chapter with Gujarat Titans.

On November 26, Siraj shared an emotional letter expressing his gratitude towards RCB and its passionate fanbase. His heartfelt words captured the depth of his connection with the franchise that played a pivotal role in shaping his career.

“Seven years with RCB are close to my heart,” Mohammed Siraj wrote. “The day I first wore the RCB jersey, I never imagined the bond we would form. From my first ball to every wicket, every victory, and every heartbreak, the journey has been extraordinary. The unwavering support from the fans, the energy in the stands, and the messages on social media made me push harder every single time. RCB is more than just a franchise—it’s a family and a feeling that will always remain with me.”

Siraj acknowledged the highs and lows he experienced during his tenure, emphasizing the unrelenting love and belief from the RCB faithful. “Your love, dedication, and loyalty are unmatched. This isn’t goodbye; it’s a thank you. RCB will always hold a piece of my heart,” he concluded.

During his time with RCB, Siraj picked up 83 wickets in 87 matches, with 2020 standing out as a remarkable year under Virat Kohli’s leadership. He made IPL history by bowling consecutive maiden overs in a single match, cementing his place as a fan favorite.

Now joining Gujarat Titans, Siraj will share the pace attack with renowned bowlers like Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada. Under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, he faces the challenge of adapting to a new environment while continuing to shine on the big stage. With the Titans aiming for another IPL triumph, Siraj’s addition bolsters their chances significantly, promising thrilling performances ahead.
