The ongoing opening Test of the 5-match series between England and India lived up to the viewers’ expectations at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. On Day 1, England batsmen failed to capitalize in their home conditions as the Indian seamers turned out to be too hot to handle for the hosts. Indians didn’t let England batsmen take control over the game barring Joe Root. However, Shardul Thakur took the prized wicket of Joe Root in the 59th over.
Thakur went a step ahead by getting the wicket of Ollie Robinson in the same over. Jasprit Bumrah turned out to be the top wicket-taker for the Indian team and that’s good news as he was struggling with his form recently. Bumrah accounted for four dismissals including Rory Burns, Jos Buttler, Stuart Broad, and James Anderson. Apart from Bumrah, Mohammed Shami also bowled really well on Day 1.

However, in a funny incident on Day, Mohammed Siraj was seen applying Mohammed Shami’s sweat on red cherry.
Among the Indian bowlers, Mohammed Siraj settled for one wicket to his name as he got the wicket of Zak Crawley in the first session itself. Meanwhile, a video doing the rounds on Twitter shows Mohammed Siraj funnily applied Shami’s sweat on the red ball.
During the 49th over, when Mohammed Shami was bowling to English batsmen, Siraj comes towards Shami and touches his forehead. After that, he applies the sweat on the red leather to shine the ball.
Here is the video of the incident:
England eventually got bundled out for a meager score of 183. Mohammed Shami managed to scalp three wickets and in reply, India got off to a terrific start, thanks to KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul is playing unbeaten after scoring a spectacular fifty.
