India made decent early inroads in the second ODI against Sri Lanka as they sent back opener Pathum Nissanka back for a golden duck on just the first delivery of the match. It was Mohammed Siraj who made this crucial strike by getting Nissanka caught behind by KL Rahul. So, the early effect is created here in the middle, and this is so important for both teams since the first ODI experienced a thrilling tie.

The two people currently at the crease working together to re-establish the Sri Lankan batting are Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis. On winning the toss, the hosts elected to bat first at the R. Premadasa Stadium, which had just witnessed the first match’s dramatic end.

Sri Lanka have made two changes in the lineup for this must-win match. Kamindu Mendis and Jeffrey Vandersay came in for all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who was really important, and fast bowler Lahiru Kumara, who are both injured. India, of course, decided to continue with their previous lineup, having shown confidence in the team that played the first ODI.

An engrossing fight as both the teams look to establish their leads in the series is in store. Indian bowlers, led by Siraj, will be looking to build on the early success as the Lankans strive to put a competitive total on the board with their batsmen. This game promises to be an interesting affair with high stakes for both teams.
