India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has hinted at a strong comeback following his omission from India’s provisional squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The squad announcement on January 18 raised eyebrows among fans and cricket pundits, with Siraj’s absence from the 15-man shortlist being one of the most surprising exclusions. Having been a consistent performer for India in white-ball cricket, his omission was unexpected.

In response, the 30-year-old pacer shared an Instagram story titled “Reset, Restart, Refocus.” The post, featuring Siraj posing in a gym, reflected his determination to bounce back stronger. Dressed in a black full-sleeved t-shirt, grey shorts, and white sneakers, Siraj appeared ready to grind his way back into the national setup.

His encouraging words and subtle smile hinted at his focus on regaining form and proving his worth once again. Mohammed Siraj has been an integral part of India’s bowling attack in recent years. He was part of the squad that toured Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he made significant contributions.

Although his performance wasn’t flawless, he played a key role, finishing as the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the series with 20 dismissals at an average of 31.15 and an economy rate of 3.96. His fiery spell often created crucial breakthroughs, though he also found himself embroiled in a heated exchange with Australia’s Travis Head, the series’ top scorer with 448 runs.

Despite missing out on the Champions Trophy this year, Siraj has an opportunity to shine in domestic cricket. He is set to represent Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy and is likely to feature in their final group game against Vidarbha next week. However, due to workload management, he has been rested for Hyderabad’s upcoming clash against Himachal Pradesh.

Hyderabad currently sits sixth in Group B, with only one win from five matches, along with two draws. Mohammed Siraj’s omission from the Champions Trophy squad is a setback, but his resilience and determination suggest it’s only a matter of time before he returns to the national team. His ability to reset and refocus will be crucial as he continues to fight for his place among India’s elite pacers.
