Mohammed Siraj produced one of the most sensational fielding efforts of the match as India went down to Australia in the first ODI at Perth. In a moment that stunned everyone, Siraj turned Superman to deny debutant Matt Renshaw his maiden international six. Off Washington Sundar’s bowling, Renshaw launched a powerful shot down the ground, seemingly clearing the ropes.

But Mohammed Siraj, stationed at long-off, leapt backwards, grabbed the ball mid-air, and flicked it back into play before tumbling over — saving five crucial runs for his team and turning a certain six into a single. Earlier in the day, Australia had put India under immense pressure right from the start.

After winning the toss, Mitchell Marsh’s decision to bowl first paid off instantly as Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc dismantled India’s top order. The duo dismissed Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill cheaply, while left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann and all-rounder Mitchell Owen cleaned up the middle order, including Washington Sundar and Axar Patel.

KL Rahul’s 38 and Nitish Kumar Reddy’s late cameo helped India reach 136/9 in a rain-shortened 26-over innings. In reply, Australia’s chase was anchored by skipper Marsh and Josh Philippe, who looked fluent before Washington Sundar broke the stand.

However, despite a few quick wickets, the Aussies stayed in control. Renshaw, replacing the injured Cameron Green, looked nervous but gradually settled in before Siraj’s stunning athleticism denied him a memorable six. Australia eventually chased down the DLS target comfortably, sealing a convincing win in the series opener.
