Mohit Sharma’s journey in the IPL has been a rollercoaster ride, from highs with Chennai Super Kings to finding his groove with Gujarat Titans. Initially joining GT as a net bowler in IPL 2022, his talent caught the eye of head coach Ashish Nehra, earning him a contract for IPL 2023. Despite warming the bench initially, Mohit seized his chance, emerging as the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker with 27 scalps in 14 matches.

Despite a few setbacks, Sharma’s stint with Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 showcased his resilience and skill. He proved his mettle by claiming 27 wickets in 14 matches, establishing himself as a vital asset for the franchise. However, amidst the glory, there was a moment of heartbreak in the final against Chennai Super Kings, where Sharma’s performance in the last two balls cost GT the coveted trophy.

Nonetheless, Sharma’s bond with the franchise remained intact, with the coaching staff providing unwavering support throughout his journey. In a recent statement, Sharma expressed gratitude towards head coach Ashish Nehra and Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki for their guidance and encouragement, especially during his injury phase.

“Time flew in these past nine months, I didn’t even realise. It feels like the season just got over. In a way, I have been occupied throughout. I was home for a month after the IPL. After which, I went to England. It was a family holiday. Thereafter, we had practice. Then I started practising for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament,” Mohit shared in a video released by Gujarat Titans.

“Then I was injured. I went to rehab after that. Anyway, I was in constant touch with Ashu Bhai (Nehra) and Vicky Bhai (Solanki). I think, within 24 hours of getting injured, someone from GT reaches out as soon as they know a player is injured and then they help you carry the process forward. They tell you how to go about it – the rehab, scans. In my case, they have handled it all,” he added.
