With 13 runs needed for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to register a thrilling win, Shivam Dube had a conversation with Ravindra Jadeja and they told each other that they just need two big shots to seal the deal. Mohit Sharma, who was already bowling brilliantly in the game, came to bowl the final over and restricted CSK batters quite well in the first four balls.

CSK needed 10 runs in the final 2 balls and all the hopes were almost gone for CSK for another title, Ravindra Jadeja did the unthinkable. He first hit a six and then a four and sealed the deal as well. However, it is also notable that Mohit Sharma did a very good job with the ball as well. While talking about this with The Indian Express, he shared what he felt as he tried his best.

“My mind was very clear in what I wanted to do. In the nets, I had practiced such situations and I have been in such scenarios before too. So I said let me bowl all balls yorkers and was backing my instinct,” the speedster said. “They wanted to know what will be his plan of action. I said I will again try to bowl yorker. People are now saying this and that but frankly it has no meaning. I knew what I wanted to do.”

On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja was waiting that somehow the ball comes in his zone where he could swing hard. Aafter the win he revealed what was going on in his mind. “I was just thinking I need to swing hard, as much as I can. Where the ball will go, I was not thinking about that, just looking to swing hard. I was backing myself and looking to hit straight, because I know Mohit can bowl those slower balls,” Jadeja said during post-match interaction.

Meanwhile, Mohit Sharma added that even after being hit for a six, he had backed himself to pull this off. Back in the nets, he faced challenges from his teammates during match simulations and most of the time he sealed the deal. He also added that he was just trying to bowl near the toes as well.

“I ran and tried to bowl (yorker) again. I just wanted to be focussed and back myself. Whole IPL I have done that. The ball landed where it shouldn’t have and Jadeja got his bat. I tried, I tried my best,” Mohit Sharma concluded.

However, after that, he went back to the dressing room and sat in one corner. Head coach Ashish Nehra came and made him understand that he did a great job and the result was never in his hand as well.
