Former pace bowler Mohit Sharma added that Team India should not have dropped Harsh Dubey from the playing XI right after his debut for the sake of his development and confidence as well. The left-arm spinner did not get selected in the team for the second ODI at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, on Wednesday, June 17, being one of the three names to be dropped as well.

“The decision that has disappointed me is that one, the one to drop Harsh Dubey. They could have given him one more chance. You have already seen Kuldeep Yadav, and what he can do, he is a player for the big matches, he has performed a lot for the team, so Dubey should have been given another go,” the former cricketer said on Cricbuzz.

“He must be thinking, even after team management’s reassurance, that had he bowled that first over in the last match also well, he might not have been dropped now. He must be thinking he would have got to play the entire series, and that would have boosted his confidence a lot. So, I feel disappointed for him,” he again added.

Harsh Dubey, who had made his IPL debut at the Ekana Stadium last year, had to sit out on the bench as Team India had to shuffle things around in terms of their combination as well.

“Honestly, we would have bowled first because of our combination we are playing with just five bowlers. It is all about being in difficult conditions and being able to chase down scores, getting that experience, being clinical with our bowling,” Shubman Gill said at the toss after being put into bat first.
