In the ongoing clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024, New Zealand talent Rachin Ravindra faced another setback as he fell cheaply yet again. Despite earning his maiden IPL contract with Chennai Super Kings this season, Ravindra’s performances have been inconsistent.

Having opened the innings due to Devon Conway’s injury, Rachin Ravindra initially showed promise with brisk knocks against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. However, his form took a downturn thereafter, with scores of 2, 12, 15, and 21 in subsequent matches. In the current encounter against Lucknow Super Giants, Ravindra’s disappointment deepened as he was dismissed for a golden duck by Mohsin Khan’s impressive delivery.

Facing the first ball of the second over, Racin Ravindra was outsmarted by Khan’s full-length delivery that seamed in sharply at the last moment, breaching his defences and crashing into the stumps.

At the time of writing, Chennai Super Kings were 64 for 2 in the eighth over, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane holding the fort. Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper KL Rahul’s decision to bowl first seemed strategic, aiming to capitalize on any early advantage. Reflecting on the game, KL Rahul emphasized the importance of knowing the target while batting second.

Despite a recent loss to Kolkata Knight Riders, Rahul maintained a composed demeanour, highlighting the need for stability within the team’s leadership group to avoid spreading panic. As the match unfolds, all eyes are on Chennai Super Kings’ batting lineup to see if they can recover from the early setback and post a competitive total against Lucknow Super Giants’ bowling attack.
