The IPL Fairplay Award has seen a lot of special deeds being performed by the players on the ground over the years. Tonight was another such example which was perhaps better than anyone of the previous Fairplay acts.

In the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab, Hashim Amla edged the fifth delivery of the innings to the wicket-keeper. Kedar Jadhav did not spot the tickle and hence did not even appeal. Just when the bowler in Aniket Choudhary made a slight appeal for the caught behind, Amla himself walked away before the umpire raised his finger.

It is not the first time that Amla has uplifted the spirit of the game through his actions on the field. Someone of his stature always keeps the game above anyone else. And this is how it should be.

Having made early inroads into the Punjab batting line-up, Royal Challengers never really gave the visitors a proper chance to score quick runs. Punjab ended up scoring 138-7 in 20 overs. Watch the full video of Amla’s dismissal:
