South African fast bowling legend Morne Morkel continues to work on mastering the language, but it’s clear he has miles to cover. Morne Morkel is now a bowling coach with the Indian men’s cricket team and recently shared a light-hearted moment with Indian T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav.
Morne Morkel fails to comprehend what Suryakumar Yadav was asking in Hindi, leaving him in splits. In a clip posted by the BCCI on social media, Morkel has a liking for good humour as he tries speaking in Hindi for a few words before giving up and asking the cameraperson to cut that bit from the video.

The clip opens with Suryakumar Yadav goading Morne Morkel, saying “Tell me what happened.” Morkel gamely tries to reply but fumbles with the words, making the whole scene all the more lovable. Although Morkel’s Hindi is not perfect, it was the epitome of the jovial atmosphere within the team as if his trying and camaraderie with the Indian players was all that mattered.

The Indian side is currently in New Delhi getting ready for the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series against Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The hilarious exchange between Morkel and Suryakumar comes as a part of the video that shows India training session, with head coach Gautam Gambhir keeping a close eye on preparations.

Gambhir, starting his first stint as head coach from his hometown in New Delhi, takes over the coaching mantle that he has assumed during this calendar year. With the Test series wrapped up in a 2-0 whitewash, India began T20I series on stronger footing, completing a seven-wicket chase of Bangladesh’s woefully meager total of 127 to victory in just 11.5 overs in the first T20I at Gwalior.
