Former India captain MS Dhoni and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant were recently spotted enjoying a get-together with friends following the conclusion of India’s Test series against Sri Lanka. A video from the gathering has gone viral on social media, showing Dhoni and Pant sharing a light-hearted moment with their friends.
The group was seen posing for the camera while Arijit Singh’s popular song ‘Channa Mereya’ from the 2016 Bollywood film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil played in the background. After MS Dhoni and a few others stepped away from the frame, Pant called them back before continuing to relax on a sofa.

Pant was dressed in a tea-green co-ord set, while MS Dhoni opted for a casual blue floral-print shirt paired with green trousers. The get-together came after Pant featured in India’s recent Test series against Sri Lanka. India won the series 1-0 after securing victory in the opening Test in Galle, while the second match ended in a draw following a lengthy resistance from Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha after India enforced the follow-on.

Pant also enjoyed a memorable series individually, breaking one of Dhoni’s long-standing records during the second Test. He became India’s highest run-scorer as a designated wicketkeeper in away or neutral Tests. The left-hander has now accumulated 2,534 runs at an average of more than 41 in such matches, moving past Dhoni’s tally of 2,496. Farokh Engineer, Syed Kirmani and Kiran More complete the top five.

Pant also surpassed Australia legend Adam Gilchrist to become the third-highest six-hitter in Test cricket. He has smashed 102 sixes in 52 Tests, moving beyond Gilchrist’s tally of 100 sixes in 96 matches. Only Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum are ahead of Pant on the list. MS Dhoni, meanwhile, missed the entire IPL 2026 season due to injury, adding further uncertainty over his future in competitive cricket.
