MS Dhoni’s commitment to fitness has always set him apart, and even at 44, the former India captain continues to defy age by staying active in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Chennai Super Kings. Though he stepped away from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni remains deeply involved in the sport, not just as a player but also as a role model for fitness and discipline.

However, in a recent interaction at a Neuberg event on July 21, MS Dhoni expressed concern about the declining physical activity among Indians, especially in younger generations. He used a personal example, pointing out that even his daughter, Ziva, doesn’t engage much in physical sports. According to him, this is reflective of a larger trend nationwide, where children and adults alike are increasingly disconnected from sports activities.

So we need to plan things to keep ourselves physically active,” MS Dhoni said, highlighting the importance of sport for maintaining overall health.

After a challenging IPL 2025 season, where CSK struggled despite his brief yet impactful batting cameos, questions linger about his future. With regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad sidelined due to an elbow injury, Dhoni stepped in once again to lead the team.

Unfortunately, the campaign ended in disappointment, as the side couldn’t make it to the playoffs. Whether MS Dhoni will return for IPL 2026 remains uncertain. The franchise and fans alike await his decision, which is likely to come closer to the next season. For now, Dhoni continues to inspire — both through his words and his enduring passion for the game.
