Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore faced each other in a mouthwatering clash on Sunday afternoon. The top of the table clash gathered a lot of anticipation from fans but turned out to be a rather one-sided contest. Ravindra Jadeja shone in all three departments and helped CSK handing a thumping 69-run defeat to RCB.

Ravindra Jadeja was on fire

Jadeja was everywhere in the ground as he contributed, first, with the bat before coming into the party with the ball as well. Also, he affected a sharp runout as well. Meanwhile, Jadeja found help from MS Dhoni to dismiss Glenn Maxwell, who could have turned the game on his own. While bowling to Maxwell, Dhoni asked Jadeja to keep bowling wicket to wicket without being afraid of getting hit and he got the wicket.

However, After AB de Villiers’ dismissal, Harshal Patel came out to bat and Dhoni was quick to tell Jadeja that they cannot converse in Hindi now as Patel would understand it, and hence the CSK skipper could instruct his bowlers in Hindi the plans to bowl to them. The keeper’s humorous remark was caught on the stump mic, which left the commentators bemused. Even both Suresh Raina, who was standing in the slip, and Jadeja were seen laughing, while MS Dhoni had a smirk on his face.

The dashing all-rounder first scored a blink-and-you-miss half-century. He took on RCB’s death over specialist Harshal Patel for cleaners and smashed 37 runs off the final over of the innings. Jadeja hit five sixes and a four to equal the record of Chris Gayle for the most runs in a single over. Patel looked all over the place and conceded a head-high no-ball as well, which made the matters even worse. It was Jadeja’s innings of 62 runs in 28 balls, which took CSK’s total to 191/4 in 20 overs.

Talking about Jadeja after the same, MS Dhoni said, “He’s (Jadeja) somebody who can change the game on his own and we have seen that significant change with the bat and in the bowling as well. It’s good to give him that extra opportunity, the extra few balls where he can express himself. It’s also important that the individual grabs the chance when you make a decision like that and he’s done that so far.”
