Former India captain MS Dhoni was once again seen indulging his love for classic automobiles after taking one of his prized vintage cars for a drive through the streets of Ranchi. The Mercedes-Benz 450SL is a two-door luxury roadster manufactured between 1973 and 1980. Featuring a removable hardtop, the model was never officially launched in India, making it one of the rarest classic Mercedes cars owned by any Indian celebrity. Dhoni was spotted driving the red vintage convertible through his hometown, with fans quickly sharing clips of the outing online.

The sighting came shortly after Dhoni returned to India following the national team’s recently concluded white-ball tour of England. During the tour, the former India skipper was frequently seen in the stands, supporting the Men in Blue during the T20I and ODI series.

This is not the first time Dhoni has grabbed attention with his impressive automobile collection. Soon after arriving in Ranchi, he was also spotted behind the wheel of his iconic 1970 Ford Mustang, another prized possession from his extensive garage. Widely regarded as one of India’s biggest automobile enthusiasts, Dhoni owns several rare and vintage vehicles, including a Hummer H2, Nissan Jonga, and multiple high-end motorcycles.

On the cricketing front, Dhoni remained part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad for IPL 2026 but did not feature in a single match after suffering a calf strain before the season. Although he stayed away from on-field action, the veteran made a special appearance during CSK’s final league fixture against SunRisers Hyderabad, joining his teammates for a lap of honour to thank the Chepauk faithful for their unwavering support.

It was a disappointing IPL campaign for Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side, as CSK finished eighth in the standings with six wins from 14 matches, missing out on the playoffs. While Dhoni’s return to competitive cricket remains uncertain, his passion for vintage automobiles continues to captivate fans whenever he takes one of his classics out for a drive.
