During the Adelaide ODI on Tuesday (15 January), the former Indian skipper and the present limited-overs wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni forgot to raise his bat after completing his match-winning half-century knock. Later, his partner Dinesh Karthik reminded him of that situation and then he raised his bat.

Chasing down 299 runs target, India was under pressure at one stage. When Dhoni joined the crease, India was battling on 160/3 in 30.4 overs as India needed to score 139 more runs to win that game in 116 balls.

Like his present days’ batting, Dhoni took a good time to settle down at the crease but he was helping enough the set batsman Virat Kohli. Especially, both the batsmen had the impressive running between the wickets that kept the scoreboard active continuously.

Dhoni and Kohli had the crucial 82-run partnership for the fourth wicket where the skipper Kohli completed his 39th ODI century in 108 balls and scored 104 runs off 112 balls before losing his wicket. When Kohli was dismissed, India needed to score 57 runs in 38 balls with six wickets in hands to win that game. At that time, Dhoni was set and was batting on 25 off 35 balls.

From that situation, Dhoni took the charge of the team while the new batsman Dinesh Karthik played a brilliant cameo role to secure the important victory that helped the team to level the series. They had the unbroken 57-run partnership for the fifth wicket while India reached the target in 49.2 overs after losing four wickets.

Karthik remained not out on 25 runs off 14 balls, Dhoni was not out on 55 off 54 balls to secure the crucial victory of the team.

In the final over of the game, India needed seven runs to win that game while the Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff took the ball in hand. Hitting the sixer on the first ball of that over, Dhoni levelled the scores and completed his half-century too. But he might forget that achievement and that’s why he had no special reaction while talking with Karthik at that moment. Soon, Karthik reminded him and Dhoni raised his bat.
