The cricketing fraternity was in for a massive shock in September when the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) senior batsman Suresh Raina decided to come back to India. CSK also confirmed that he will not be available for the IPL 2020 at all and has left the UAE citing personal reasons. Several speculations were made about his exit and one of them being a rift between Raina and MS Dhoni.

The duo has been very close friends for a long time. Both of them retired from international cricket together as well on August 15 this year. Reports of a possible rift between them left the fans worried and N Srinivasan‘s explosive comments fuelled the rumors even more.

Srinivasan had said, “The season has not begun yet and Raina will certainly realize what he is missing and certainly all the money he is going to lose. My thinking is that if you are reluctant or not happy, go back. I don’t force anyone to do anything … sometimes success gets into your head.”

However, later Srinivasan clarified that his statement was completely misunderstood and he and CSK stand by Suresh Raina in the tough times. Even Raina later clarified things to state that all is well between him and the franchise. However, there was no statement about MS Dhoni from him and the CSK captain hasn’t spoken about him as well.

However, Suresh Raina’s latest Twitter activity must be a huge sigh of relief for the fans. A fan page named ‘Dhoni Raina Team’, posted a throwback picture of Dhoni along with Raina together. The latter has liked the picture hinting at not damage to their relationship.

However, amidst all this, it has been all but confirmed that Suresh Raina will not be playing this season at all. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan recently stated that they respect the cricketer’s decision and understand that he needs his space and there is no point in looking back at him. CSK have won only a solitary match in three outings so far and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. They are set to play against SRH on Friday.
