Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, MS Dhoni took a smart DRS call which helped them get rid of Mumbai Indians (MI) opener, Quinton de Kock, on Sunday in Dubai. Chasing 157, the southpaw got off to a flyer with three quick boundaries before Deepak Chahar hit him on the pads with an outswinger. De Kock moved in an attempt of chipping the ball on the leg side but missed it and despite a huge appeal from Deepak Chahar and CSK players, the on-field umpire gave him not out.

However, Deepak Chahar was convinced and he kept running in celebration without looking back and reach MS Dhoni, who wasted no time in taking the DRS as he too seemed sure about the ball hitting the stumps – and it was. The ball tracker on review showed that the ball had hit de Kock in line and was crashing into middle-and-off.

As MS Dhoni’s sharpness came to the fore, CSK got their opening to further dismantle the MI batting line-up. Earlier in the game, MS Dhoni’s decision of batting first after winning the toss turned out to be a horrifying one as the New Zealand pair of Trent Boult and Adam Milne dismissed CSK’s top-order with two strikes each in the powerplay leaving them reeling at 24/4, effectively 5 down with Ambati Rayudu retired hurt.

Boult got the prized wickets of Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina while the right-arm pacer send back Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni. Milne hit Rayudu on his elbow forcing the batsman to retire hurt himself. Jasprit Bumrah, who didn’t take the new ball, managed to dismiss Ravindra Jadeja and DJ Bravo towards the end.
