Former India captain MS Dhoni picked Jasprit Bumrah as his favourite bowler in the world now. However, Bumrah recently played a key role in India’s victorious campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 where he was also adjudged Player of the Tournament. His stunning spells during the entire tournament helped India reach the final unbeaten and during the final, his spell helped India win too.

Having been impressed by Bumrah’s stunning show across formats in recent times, MS Dhoni picked him as his favourite bowler. However, he didn’t call any batter his favourite claiming that the country has no dearth of batting talent as well.

“Current favourite, it’s easy to pick a bowler since Bumrah is there. It’s difficult to pick a batter because we have several good batters but that doesn’t mean bowlers aren’t good. It’s difficult pick one among batters as whomever I see batting, he looks the best but then I see someone else he also looks great. As long as team India are doing fine, I don’t want to pick a batter but I hope they will keep scoring runs. However, I have picked my favourite bowler,” said MS Dhoni at an event.

However, Jasprit Bumrah became just the second Indian to win the coveted Player of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cup after Virat Kohli who won it two times in back-to-back editions in 2014 and 2016 as well. The veteran also finished as the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets from eight innings which came at an average of 8.46 and an economy of 4.17. He also registered the lowest economy by a bowler in a single edition of the T20 World Cup with a minimum of five matches played as well. Bumrah’s best bowling came against Afghanistan as he picked 3/7 in four overs as well.
