Among those witnessing the historic night from the stands was legendary former captain MS Dhoni. The iconic wicketkeeper-batter, who was the first Indian captain to lift the T20 World Cup back in 2007, watched as current skipper Suryakumar Yadav followed in the footsteps of great leaders like Rohit Sharma to guide India to another global triumph.

MS Dhoni later took to social media with a rare Instagram post celebrating the victory. While congratulating the entire Indian cricket fraternity, he also had special praise for head coach Gautam Gambhir. “History gets created at Ahmedabad, big congratulations to the team and support staff and to all the fans of the Indian Cricket Team worldwide,” MS Dhoni wrote.

India’s triumph was built on a sensational all-round display in the final. After being asked to bat first, India’s top order produced a breathtaking performance to pile up a massive 255/5 in 20 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson continued his incredible run of form, smashing 89 runs off 46 balls to register his third consecutive half-century in the tournament. Young opener Abhishek Sharma provided explosive momentum with a blistering 52 off just 21 deliveries.

Ishan Kishan kept the scoring rate soaring with a quickfire 54 off 25 balls, ensuring India maintained control of the innings. In the final overs, Shivam Dube delivered a powerful finishing touch, smashing 28 not out from just eight balls to push India to an imposing total.

The bowlers then completed the job in style. Player of the Match Jasprit Bumrah produced a brilliant spell, finishing with 4/15, while Axar Patel chipped in with 3/27 as New Zealand were bundled out for 159 in the 19th over. It was a night where everything clicked for India — batting brilliance, disciplined bowling and electric fielding — making their World Cup defence truly unforgettable.
