In a recent event, MS Dhoni shared his reactions while watching the game with friends, revealing his unwavering belief in the team even during the tense moments when the game seemed to swing in the opposition’s favor.

As MS Dhoni recounted, he was watching the game on TV with friends who had come over. The group experienced several ups and downs together, with the match taking unpredictable turns. At one point, Dhoni’s friends thought the game was over and urged him to join them in other plans, saying, “Arey khatam ho gaya, chalo na hamare saath (it’s over; come with us).” Yet Dhoni’s belief held firm.

With his deep understanding of cricket’s unpredictable nature, he replied, “In cricket, till it’s over, it’s not over.” His confidence, as it turned out, wasn’t misplaced. MS Dhoni emphasized that high-stakes matches, like the World Cup final, can alter dramatically under pressure. True to his words, South Africa, who needed just 30 runs off 30 balls with six wickets in hand, faltered under the pressure.

Set batters David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen appeared poised to take South Africa to victory, but India’s bowlers executed a brilliant comeback, leaving the Proteas seven runs short of their target. Dhoni praised India’s players, expressing immense pride in their performance, determination, and resilience.

“Big, big congratulations to the guys on the field,” he remarked, emphasizing the crucial role of energy, motivation, and belief in such a high-stakes match. India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win was a momentous occasion, echoing the nation’s first T20 World Cup triumph in 2007 under Dhoni’s leadership.
