Legendary India captain MS Dhoni recently shared insights into his relationship with Virat Kohli, speaking on camaraderie and mutual respect. Kohli made his international debut under Dhoni in 2008 and has since been groomed into one of the greatest batters across all formats. “We have been colleagues who played for India for a very long time. He has been amongst the best when it comes to world cricket. And the fact that I could bat a lot with him during the middle overs was a lot of fun because we used to take a lot of twos and threes in the game, so it has always been fun,” MS Dhoni said at an event.
Their fitness and understanding made them the fearsome combo, especially noteworthy during the T20 World Cup 2016. In a crucial group match, MS Dhoni and Kohli added 67 runs off 31 balls for the fifth wicket that really brought out the exceptional running between the wickets by these two. MS Dhoni felt that though the duo does not meet too regularly, what matters is the time they get to spend with each other when they are away from the field. “It is not like we meet very often, but whenever we get a chance, we make sure that we go on the side and chat for some time. We talk about what is going on, so that is our relationship,” he added.

However, the return of MS Dhoni into the IPL remains uncertain and will be subjects to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s retention policies. In contrast, Kohli is taking an active part in the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka. In the first game, he was able to score 24 runs off 32 balls but could not make a telling impact.
