At moments when a part of the population argues on the fact that MS Dhoni must now retire from the game of cricket, it is then that the former Indian skipper makes a point to come back with his willow. Dhoni is proving yet again in IPL 2018 why he is the best among all. MS has been associated to CSK since the advent of the league and after CSK suffered a 2-year ban, Mahi played for Pune Super Giants. CSK has returned this year stronger and added value is Dhoni’s form this season.
We don’t have to asses upon his captaincy skills for sure but his innings this time definitely reminds us of Dhoni years back with his Spartan willow. In the nine matches played till date on the league, MS has already scored 329 odd runs with an average of 82.29 approximately. The cheeky innings of Dhoni scoring 79 off 44 balls against Punjab are till date his highest and one of the finest scores in IPL. But the 70off 34 against Kohli’s Bangalore can’t be ignored and will surely be remembered by the crowd.
This has taken many veterans and fans by surprise and the critics were shut. Subramaniam Badrinath was an integral part of the CSK team from its advent till 2012.He has played under the leadership of Dhoni for years and for him this is like reliving his old days almost like a ‘deja-vu’. Badrinath revealed that he was always fascinated yet faint-hearted about Dhoni’s batting power and skills.
“The way he was batting in those years, 2008, ’09 and ’10, I think history is repeating itself. The shots that he is playing, the way he is going out and expressing himself, I think it’s phenomenal,” he said. “Vintage MS Dhoni, I would like to call it.”
He thinks that the only thing that has changed now is his mindset in the game and Badrinath feels that Mahi has got more positive in his attempts.
“I don’t think anything has changed with regards to his game, or shots, or his ability to strike the ball which we have all seen before, but his mindset. I think he is in a whole new different zone,” he concluded.
