MS Dhoni Smashes Back-to-back Sixes To Take CSK Over 200-run Mark

The 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 saw Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locking horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 30 in a day game of a doubleheader. MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat first much to the cheers of the sea of CSK supporters in the stadium.

Chennai made no changes to their playing XI despite the loss in the last game, while e Shikhar Dhawan revealed that PBKS had included Harpreet Brar in the XI to replace Gurnoor Singh. Ruturaj Gaikwad (37) and Devon Conway added 86 runs for the first wicket in almost 10 overs before Gaikwad was dismissed by Sikandar Raza.

Shivam Dube played a quick knock of 28 in 17 balls and Moeen Ali only managed to contribute 10 runs. Ravindra Jadeja also failed to do much as he added 12 runs, but it was Devon Conway who batted throughout the innings and scored his highest IPL score of 92* in 52 balls with 16 fours and 1 six.

However, the moment in the last over of CSK innings was grabbed by MS Dhoni as he smacked back-to-back sixes off Sam Curran on the last two balls of the 20th over to take CSK to 200/4 in 20 overs. These sixes from ‘Thala’ was enough for the CSK followers in the ground to make deafening noises.
