MS Dhoni hasn’t featured in any competitive cricket game for almost a year now. The Indian wicket-keeper last played cricket during India’s semi-final loss to New Zealand in the World Cup 2019 in England. He was set to return in action with IPL 2020. Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has commented on MS Dhoni’s return into the national team setup. Prasad feels MS Dhoni will find it tough to make a comeback without having any platform like IPL to prove himself.
The T20 World Cup is also slated to be played later this year. Indian cricket fans are eager to know if MS Dhoni can make a return to the national team.

“It’s very tough for him to really break into the team. It’s tough for him now again to make a comeback because he’s not played cricket for almost a year. There is no doubt he is very fit but then your reflexes tend to come down as you grow old. He is nearing 40.” Prasad said.
“So, it’s not going to be easy for him. I would also leave it to the team management. If he shows good fitness and also if team management comes up with some strategy,” he added.

Venkatesh Prasad also expressed his desire to see MS Dhoni bat up the order if he makes a comeback into the Indian team setup. “Instead of treating Dhoni as a finisher, I will play him up the order. I would probably ask him to bat at number 3 or 4. Or, if I have only 10 overs left, I will tell him to go and just play his game the way he plays as a finisher. Let’s not forget, Dhoni has the experience and the inputs that he would give, that’s extremely valuable,” Dhoni said.
