“See, there are problems for MS Dhoni. He has not played cricket post-World Cup. If the IPL does not happen, problems for MSD will further increase. I don’t know what the team management, Ravi Shastri, Virat Kohli or the selectors are thinking,” Lal said.

Cricket fans in India were excited to see MS Dhoni return to competitive cricket. The Indian wicket-keeper last played cricket during India’s semi-final loss to New Zealand in the World Cup 2019 in England. He was set to return in action with IPL 2020. However, the IPL is unlikely to happen due to the pandemic outbreak of the Corona Virus.

Madan Lal feels that pressure and problems fro MS Dhoni have increased as the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 is scheduled to happen later this year.

“The selector would want MS Dhoni to first play cricket and then they select him. Team management and selectors have a huge responsibility. I feel that problems have increased. MS has played a lot of cricket and he was one of the best captains. I think he should himself tell what he thinks to the selectors and then the selectors will be able to think,”  Lal said.

Australia is all set to host the upcoming The ICC T20 World Cup 2020. It is scheduled to be played between October 18 and November 15. There are seven venues across Australia that will organize the prestigious tournament.

The 1983 World Cup winner mentioned that the organizers will find it tough to set up IPL  after the coronavirus crisis is averted.

“Till the time coronavirus is not over, holding IPL is very tough, because it is very big and the safety of our viewers is very important and also, how our players will travel from one city to another? So, basically there are a lot of problems at the moment. Till the time the government gives clearance, I feel it is tough. For the BCCI and franchises also, it is tough. We need to see what results come by April 30. It will be better if the BCCI and the franchises find a solution,” he said.

Lal also urged the people to follow the government’s guidelines to contain COVID-19. “I want to say that in this tough situation, we should follow what the government is saying and adhere to the lockdown because till we follow that, we will not be able to tackle this virus,” said Lal.
