Former Indian chief selector, MSK Prasad’s term as the chairman of selectors ended as Madan Lal-led Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) naming Sunil Joshi as his rightful successor. The new selection panel under the leadership of Sunil Joshi will soon be announcing the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.
MSK’s tenure saw the Indian team make a successful transition from MS Dhoni’s era to Virat Kohli’s era. It was during the former selector’s tenure that MS Dhoni relinquished his white-ball leadership duties to Virat Kohli in 2017 and Prasad reckons that he and his colleagues can take pride from the fact that they paved way for such a fruitful transition.
Apart from that, Prasad singled out Team India reaching the No.1 spot across formats as the selection committee’s biggest achievement.

As per the quotes in India Today, Prasad said, “I personally feel that my colleagues and I can take pride in the fact that we have successfully seen the transition period from MSD to Virat very well. Once Mahi completed his [captaincy] stint, we had to look at somebody who could step into those shoes. We wanted to see that happening smoothly. Once Virat took over, we reached the No. 1 ranking across all three formats. That’s the biggest satisfaction I got.”
The selection Panel under MSK Prasad was criticized for the way they handled the Dhoni situation post the World Cup but the former selector said that Dhoni is clear about his future and he had communicated the same to the team management.
Describing the same, MSK said, “MS is clear about his future which he expressed to me and the team management. I cannot disclose details as it is confidential. It’s best that whatever discussed and shared between us [selection committee and the team management] remains there. It’s an unwritten code.”
