Star India batter Shubman Gill said that his first net session after suffering a thumb injury on Friday (November 29) went “much better” than what he and team physio Kamlesh Jain expected as well. He can now be added to the Adelaide Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy which begins on December 6 as well.
However, Gill injured his thumb while fielding at slips during India’s match simulation before the first Test at the Perth Stadium as well. He was sidelined from the first game, though scans showed no fracture as well.

“It was my first day, and I was just trying to get a feel to be honest, see how the injury is reacting if there was any kind of soreness. But it actually went much better than what I expected and Kamlesh bhai expected. I am very happy with that,” Gill said in a BCCI video.
Further in the video, Shubman Gill also spoke about his feelings immediately after learning about his injury and how they changed with the result in Perth as well.
“When I got to know about my injury, for the first couple of days, I was quite low and disappointed. Perth was the only venue where I didn’t play when we came the last time and I was looking forward to playing there at such an iconic venue. The way we played that game, at the end of the day, I was very happy,” Shubman Gill concluded.
