Legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar will be celebrating his 75th birthday on July 10, 2024 as well. To celebrate the beautiful occasion for the veteran batter, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will be felicitating him as a token of gratitude as well. The decision to honour him was decided during the recent board meeting held on Wednesday, May 29 as well.
However, MCA discussed and finalized a few more decisions during the meeting, but the one to pay tribute to the former India batter on his birthday was the most significant one as well. Sunil Gavaskar who played for India for more than 16 years will be celebrated for his unforgettable contributions to the game as well.

However, among other decisions taken at the meet, Dhawal Kulkarni, who retired after the 2024 Ranji season, has been appointed as the bowling mentor for the Mumbai team as well. The former pacer will start his job in the upcoming domestic season. Additionally, MCA will also be releasing a stamp and a coffee table book as the Wankhede Stadium celebrates its golden jubilee year as well.
Notably, Sunil Gavaskar became the first-ever batter to breach the 10000-run mark in Test cricket as well. At home ground—the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Gavaskar played his last international match during the second semi-final of the 1987 Reliance World Cup, which they eventually lost. However, he is also one of the finest commentators of the game and associated with the elite panel of the ICC for quite some time now as well.
