With the World Test Championship (WTC) Final and England’s limited-overs series on the horizon, the trio will miss the crucial playoff phase for the five-time IPL champions.

Following MI’s final league match of IPL 2025—a tough defeat against Punjab Kings—head coach Mahela Jayawardene addressed the dressing room on behalf of the team, support staff, and management. Speaking with warmth and pride, Jayawardene praised Rickelton and Bosch for earning their spots in the one-off WTC Final between South Africa and Australia.

Mahela Jayawardene acknowledged their important contributions throughout the campaign and expressed disappointment at not having them around for the playoffs. He also commended Will Jacks on his long-awaited return to England’s white-ball setup.

“We’re proud of you, mate,” he told Jacks. “Keep that attitude going. You’ve all been brilliant for us—on and off the field.” The former Sri Lankan skipper was full of praise for the professionalism and spirit shown by the trio during their stint with MI this season.

The emotional send-off continued with hugs and handshakes from key MI players. Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rohit Sharma embraced Jacks with warmth, while Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner took time to wish Rickelton well for the WTC Final. Each of the three departing players signed a commemorative jersey, symbolizing their role in MI’s 2025 journey.
