Some Cricketers break records, some break rules. While the record breakers enjoy the accolades, rulebreakers have to endure the punishments. Mumbai Indians have chosen an innovative way of teaching discipline to the team. They are implementing a solution for the players who don’t follow the assigned schedules of regular gym sessions. These players have to wear emoji kits.

The emoji kit is a blue colored jumpsuit which has emojis of all the players printed on it. In this season, Mumbai has tried this new marketing gimmick of presenting the players in their emoji form. The trio of Ishan Kishan, Anukul Roy, and Rahul Chahar were the first to undergo this novel punishment. All three missed the gym session and were made to wear emoji kits.

The official Facebook page of the franchise Mumbai Indians uploaded a video with a caption “Look who traveled in Emoji kits this time around?”

Speaking about the punishment, MI wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan said, “I was told about it two days earlier, but I completely forgot. So, I missed my gym session. I’m feeling quite awkward, but still…..That’s why I haven’t taken off my sunglasses inside the airport. I don’t want to make eye contact with anyone. I won’t make this mistake again. I will make sure of that,”

“It’s a punishment for reaching late,” said India’s under-19 spinner Anukul Roy.

“Whoever is late will have to wear this special kit. I was late to the physio room. In fact, I never reached. That’s why I have been punished. On the last, we were told to wear jeans, but I wore my tracks. When it comes to punctuality, I am always 10 minutes early,” leggie Rahul Chahar said.

Mumbai Indians currently find themselves at the bottom of the points table and they need to win every match from here on to entertain the thoughts of qualifying for the playoffs.
