Star India batter Suryakumar Yadav made headlines in T20 cricket. He has been named the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year for the second consecutive time as well. The feat showed a testament to Surya’s persistent dominance in the shortest format of the game as well. However, after receiving the coveted award, he was congratulated by his Indian Premier League (IPL) side, Mumbai Indians. The franchise dropped a picture of Surya as he was captured posing with the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award, donning India’s T20 World Cup kit as well.

“Pose toh aise kar rahe hai jaise ICC Men’s T20I Player of the Year ho (Posing like the ICC Men’s T20I Player of the Year), read the caption of the post. Surya also shared the same photograph from his handle. Expressing gratitude for the prestigious award, the cricketer wrote in the caption, “Grateful.”

However, Suryakumar Yadav reached to the USA after wrapping up his IPL campaign with Mumbai Indians. He is currently in New York with the Indian team where they have been preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Notably, he missed the first few games of the 2024 IPL because of injuries. Once recovered, he returned to his place in the playing eleven of Mumbai Indians. He played 11 games in the franchise competition this season, scoring 345 runs including a 51-ball unbeaten century and three fifty-plus scores as well. He has scored in an average of 34.50 and a strike rate of over 165.

Securing the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award just before the World Cup will surely boost the confidence of Suryakukar Yadav as he will carry the momentum in the showpiece event as well.
