Kumar Kartikeya Singh was with the Mumbai Indians (MI) as part of the support team and as a net bowler. The official statement regarding the replacement from IPL read: “The left-arm spinner will join Mumbai Indians for the price of INR 20 lakh”.

Mumbai seemed to be very keen on retaining their core group of veteran cricketers and in the process, they spent heavy bucks on Ishan Kishan, Tim David, and Jofra Archer. They also looked at future talents to develop them into their core for the next editions of the IPL.

Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma, and Sanjay Yadav were the highly talked about youngsters in the auction. Tim just got a couple of chances to prove his credibility but failed to do so and was straightaway dropped providing a platform for young Brevis to shine by displaying his potential and talent.
