Mumbai Indians have roped in South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch as a replacement for pacer Lizaad Williams, who has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to injury. Bosch, a talented 30-year-old cricketer, has been making waves in South African cricket ever since his international debut against Pakistan last year in both ODIs and Tests.

Bosch is no stranger to the Mumbai Indians setup, having played for MI Cape Town in the recently concluded SA20 season. His performances in the tournament played a vital role in MI Cape Town’s title-winning campaign, as he picked up 11 wickets in just eight matches at an impressive average of 17.36. More than just a bowler, Bosch also has the ability to contribute with the bat, as he demonstrated with his unbeaten 81 against Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test.
“Corbin was a part of the victorious Proteas U-19 team that lifted the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2014, where he was named Player of the Match in the final for his stunning spell of 4/15,” Mumbai Indians announced in a statement on X.

“He has been a regular performer for his domestic team and made his international debut for the Proteas in 2024. A right-handed middle-order batter and right-arm fast bowler, Corbin has played 86 T20s, taking 59 wickets and recording a highest score of 81 with the bat. Mumbai Indians wish Lizaad a speedy recovery and extend a warm welcome to Corbin into the #OneFamily.”

Despite limited international opportunities, Bosch has shown promise in the ODIs, scoring 55 runs and picking up two wickets in his two appearances. In his only Test match, he made a strong impact, claiming five wickets along with a gritty half-century.
Bosch was included in South Africa’s 2025 Champions Trophy squad as an injury replacement for Anrich Nortje but did not get a game. The Proteas were knocked out after losing to New Zealand in the semi-finals.

Former South African fast bowler Allan Donald had high praise for Bosch, stating, “Corbin Bosch has had a fantastic season with the Titans. He was rewarded with an ODI debut against Pakistan, and he’s been knocking on the door consistently. He’s quick, experienced in T20 leagues, and I’m absolutely thrilled for him.”
Bosch will now have an opportunity to showcase his skills in the IPL, adding depth to Mumbai Indians’ pace attack for the upcoming season.
