In the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Trophy, the U19 Uttar Pradesh team secured a fantastic victory against the Mumbai U19 team to rise to the top of the table. On the other hand, because of the loss, Mumbai has gone down to the fifth position and their chances of advancing any further in the tournament are nothing but over. The UP team witnessed some mind-blowing performances from Mohit Jangra and Sameer Choudhary.

Earlier, Mumbai who was put to bat first had a brisk start. However, they lost a cluster of wicket in quick succession. While Yashasvi Jaiswal batted from one end, they kept losing wickets at the other. Apart from Pragnesh Kanpillewar anchored quite well for some time, no other batsman could contribute anything substantial to the scoreboard. The Mumbai U19 team was restricted to 202 all out as they failed to play their complete quota of 50 overs.

Arjun Tendulkar, the star in the Mumbai team couldn’t do much with the bat. He has been a champion for his team in the bowling department. He is leading the bowling charts for his team with 15 in the tournament so far in 8 innings. While he bowled decently, the pacer failed to get a wicket as Uttar Pradesh outclassed them.

After a brilliant four-wicket haul by Mohit Jangra, it was batsman Sameer Choudhary who led the chase. The Uttar Pradesh team was left reeling at 65/4 and in a spot of bother. Walking in at No.5, Sameer took the team out of trouble with his sensible knock of 81. The likes of Kritagya Singh and Dhruv Jurel made handy contributions as well.

Mumbai skipper Atharva Ankolekar and Atharva Poojari picked up a couple of wickets each. Their best bowler Jr Tendulkar went wicketless which resulted in Uttar Pradesh chasing down the meager target of 203 with almost four overs to spare. While the UP squad is all set to proceed to the quarter-finals, Mumbai’s journey is likely to be halted prematurely.
