Chennai Super Kings (CSK) owner N Srinivasan shared some insights regarding the special relationship that he and his franchise shares with captain MS Dhoni and explained why they have persisted with the Indian stalwart even though he retired from international cricket and is well past his prime.
Dhoni has been leading CSK since the inaugural edition of the cash-rich league in 2008 and has become a cult figure in Chennai due to his success in the IPL. He has won 3 IPL titles and 2 Champions League T20 trophies with them to date. Dhoni has led in a record 188 matches out of which he has won 110 matches for CSK. He has led the Chennai-based franchise in 197 games (IPL & CLT20) out of which he has won 119 T20s and lost 76 times.

Srinivasan though still has his faith in the man from Ranchi and defended MS Dhoni by saying he is still as determined as ever to win games for CSK. During a chat on India Today Conclave, N Srinivasan said, “For your information, MS Dhoni is in Chennai. He takes his cricket so seriously, he is practicing in the morning in the indoor nets and in the afternoon he is practicing at Chepauk. He is a very determined person and that is what we like. “
He further added, “We are in cricket for last 50 years, we started in early 60s, almost the entire Tamil Nadu Ranji team was employed by us. So we have been in cricket for a long time, we have been running teams, we have a true appreciation and a good appreciation of good cricket.”
