Virat Kohli’s stature in the IPL was on full display again on Wednesday night, not just through his batting but through the respect he continues to command from young cricketers. After Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s five-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants, a heartwarming post-match moment involving uncapped pacer Naman Tiwari quickly became one of the talking points of the evening.

During the interaction, Tiwari bent down to touch Kohli’s feet, a traditional Indian gesture of respect often used to seek blessings from senior figures. Kohli, clearly caught off guard, reacted with a warm smile, making the exchange one of the most memorable moments of the match.
It was a reminder that Kohli remains a role model for the next generation, not only for his achievements but also for the influence he carries in the dressing room and beyond.

The IPL has always been a platform where young players get rare access to established stars, and many use those moments to learn, observe and grow. For someone like Kohli, whose experience and discipline have shaped an extraordinary career, such admiration is hardly surprising.
A Heartwarming gesture by Naman Tiwari.❣️

Tiwari, a 20-year-old left-arm pacer signed by LSG for ₹1 crore at last year’s mini auction, has already built a promising reputation. He represented India at the 2024 U19 World Cup and impressed with his ability to consistently bowl around 145 kph. His pace and wicket-taking ability made him one of the standout names from India’s junior setup.

Kohli also made headlines for a different reason. Carrying a knee issue, he featured as an Impact Player for the first time in his IPL career and did not field during LSG’s innings. But when it was time to bat, he made his presence felt immediately, scoring a classy 49 off 34 balls with six fours and a six to guide RCB home in 15.1 overs.
The victory gave RCB their fourth win of IPL 2026, lifting them to eight points and taking them to the top of the table.
