Former Australian cricketer Nathan Hauritz believes Rishabh Pant is going to be a key player for India during the upcoming five-match Test series in England. Hauritz believes Pant has the ability to take the game away from the opposition with his aggressive batting style.

Rishabh Pant made his Test debut in England back in 2018 and scored his maiden Test hundred during the last Test of the tour in London’s Kia Oval. He, since then, has gone through a lot of ups and downs but has recently cemented his place in the Indian lineup.

Pant helped India to win a historic Test series in Australia earlier this year, where he played two sensational knocks in the last two Tests. He, first, scored 97 runs on day five of the Sydney Test before winning the Gabba Test with his unbeaten 89 runs.

Hauritz, who is impressed with Pant’s maturity at an early age, backs him to come good during the upcoming Test series against England.

“For India, Virat is incredibly important. For England, Joe Root is incredibly important. But I will pick Rishabh Pant. He is so dynamic and so aggressive,” Hauritz said to Times of India.

“He holds that lower-order setup and can take the game away from you. He’s going to keep developing as a young cricketer. He is maturing with age. Hope that he can keep learning from his mistakes.”

Hauritz believes England are tough to beat at home despite India playing their best cricket away from home. He believes the series will result in a draw.

“Hopefully, the weather doesn’t play a part. England are really tough to beat in their own backyard. But India are at their peak. Anything is possible. I predict a drawn series. England’s top-order is really under pressure at the moment and India bowlers can definitely expose them,” he added.

The five-match Test series between England and India will begin on August 4 in Nottingham.
