Australian spin maestro Nathan Lyon has shared his thoughts on India’s formidable batting line-up ahead of the much-anticipated five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia, set to take place in November. The rivalry has been fierce in recent years, with India clinching the last two series on Australian soil in 2019 and 2021.

As Australia prepares to defend their home ground, Lyon’s analysis of the Indian batting order offers key insights into what lies ahead. Nathan Lyon identified three key Indian batters as the most significant threats to Australia’s chances in the upcoming series. Speaking to Star Sports, the 36-year-old highlighted Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant as players the Australian bowlers must be wary of.

However, he was quick to point out that India’s batting depth extends far beyond just these three, acknowledging the impact of emerging talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, as well as the all-around capabilities of Ravindra Jadeja.

“Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant are probably going to be the three really big ones. But then you’ve still got Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Jadeja, and who else will come out—another five, I’m not sure,” Nathan Lyon remarked, highlighting the sheer depth and versatility of India’s batting lineup.

Having taken 121 wickets against India in 27 Tests, including nine five-wicket hauls, Lyon understands the importance of sustained pressure. He emphasized the need for the Australian bowling unit to maintain consistency over long periods to crack India’s defense.

Lyon also acknowledged the challenge posed by India’s bowling attack, pointing out that Australia’s batters will have their work cut out for them against such a strong lineup. “It’s going to be a massive challenge,” Nathan Lyon concluded.
